A venous leg ulcer (VLU) is an open sore or wound that typically forms on the lower leg, near the ankle, due to poor blood flow in the veins. It’s the most common type of chronic leg ulcer and often affects people with a history of varicose veins, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), or chronic venous insufficiency.
Non-healing venous leg ulcers (VLUs) are chronic wounds that typically result from underlying chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) and fail to progress through the normal stages of healing.
